This is my latest and is really a collection with a new Mrs. Miller story and a number of the short stories I wrote many years ago when I first becme a writer. The stories were purchased and published in magazines in the 1960s. Been writing off and on for many years.
This year is an odd one for me. As each new year begins, I'm usually in the middle of writing a book and that means the re-writing of sections and strengthening the characters and the story. This year, I will be starting a new book and what could be aprt of a new series. So far, I have two ideas for stories in this new mystery look. The heroine is a researcher usually for college prfessors and attorneys. As the first book opens, she reads an ad in the local newspaper about a group of published authors who are giving a series of lectures about writing and the things people must do. Her name is Valentina Hartley and she thinks with a name like this, she should write a romance. Her love life has been a bust leavingher with a five year old son she adores and a monter who lives with her and does the child care.
I haven'tprogressed too far except to know she goes to this evening seminar and as she leaves, she discovers the body of a man. Some of the other people know who he is. He is a local author of horror stories. The lead detective arrives and she is interested but she is sure he is taken. Is he? Part of the story involves his availibility or now. I have much more to go but I do have a title. The Horror Writer's Demise. I'll see how it goes in the next few months.
Hopefully this will really become a series like the Mrs. Miller books have become.
Now. I'm wishing every writer I know a good year for telling stories and having sales in abundance.
