Autumn: A Time for Reading and Romance

Yesterday, September 22, was the Autumn Equinox. The first day of Autumn, when the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer.

To the ancient Celts it was another sign of an aspect of nature that was most important to them—the balance of light and dark. Because the equinox marked the transition into the darker half of the year.

With the Autumn Equinox, the tribes also began thinking about the main harvest. The tricky decision of when to harvest would have been left to the Druids—the wisest of men or women and those connected to the gods. Because the crops had to be allowed to ripen as long as they could but still be harvested before they were spoiled or destroyed by the elements.  Such as by a fire, flood, rain storm,or wind storm.

One thing about longer nights is it’s a good time for reading and romance. And speaking of books and romance, if you enjoy romantasy set in the days of the ancient Celts. Here are some of mine:

 DRUIDS IN THE MIST

As Queen Boudica leads her two druids against Rome… love leads them to their destiny. Conquering Romans plunge the British tribes into chaos.

The future of the mist-covered isle and its brave people rest in the hands of two druids, whose views are as different as fire and ice.

Arch Druid Rhys is a master of the sacred mysteries but a novice in the ways of the heart.

Sulwen, a survivor of the Roman massacre on the Druid Learning Center, discovers Rhys, the shapeshifter, has evoked a basic, feral desire in her. But soon, the goddess may exact the unfathomable price of taking him from her.

Though their love is as potent as their magic, is it strong enough to survive the turmoil of the Romans, the Rebel Queen Boudica, and the gods?

 THE WARRIOR AND THE DRUIDESS

The spirit of her ancestor, Boudica, sends Tanwen forth to wed.

Druidess Tanwen’s quest takes her from her home of Britannia to Caledonia. The match with the son of the chief of the Caledonii tribe will aid in the war against Rome, keep their ways alive, and save Boudica’s bloodline. But Brude, her intended, has other ideas.

Tanwen’s gorgeous, makes Brude’s blood boil, and he can’t stop thinking of her.But Brude won’t wed a druidess.

Yet the fate of Caledonia rests in the hands of the warrior and the druidess. Will they put their differences aside to fulfill their destiny?

DRUIDRY AND THE BEAST: A collection of the full series

With a big festival coming up, who is a Druidess going to spend it with?

She didn’t think it would be with a shapeshifting God.

The wheel of the year turns with the seasons. Samhain with Druidess Seren and God Gwydion, a wolf shapeshifter. Beltane with Druidess Nona and God Dewey, a dragon shapeshifter. The Winter Solstice with Druidess Bronwen and God Artaois, a bear shapeshifter. The Summer Solstice with Druidess Maelona and God Epon, a unicorn shapeshifter. And, Lughnasa, with Druidess Wendolen and God Lleu, a lynx shapeshifter.

Can five hot, shapeshifter gods and five passionate druidesses save the tribes of Ancient Britain?

QUEEN OF KINGS

As wild and beautiful as the land she rules

All men lust for her, warriors and kings bow to her might
and her magic.

But one champion comes forth to gift her with a white bull and true love.

But can the handsome stranger best her skills and win her heart?

MOON GODDESS WIFE
From Welsh myth springs the tale of Rhiannon and Pwyll. Chief Pwyll’s life is changed forever the day Goddess Rhiannon rides pass him on her magic horse. Forbidden romance smolders between the goddess and the chieftain. With the use of an enchanted bag, Rhiannon breaks free of an unwanted betrothal. Happily, she weds Pwyll, but a harrowing mystery tears them apart. Will Pwyll’s suspicion and duty as chieftain prevail or will love win out?

TIMELESS VOYAGE

Neither centuries that have come and gone nor the seas between us can keep us apart.

As the Celtic pirate, Anwen, holds her hard iron dagger against the Roman’s throat, will the memories of their past lives keep her from striking?Kaeso is captivated by dreams of the woman he loved in a previous life, the mirror image of Anwen.

Will they be able to overcome the obstacles of time and space to find true love, or will their love story be doomed to repeat itself?

Happy Autumn, Everyone!

Druids in the Mist has such a great cover. It's a book I'd like to curl up with on a cold winter day. :) Love the graphic at the top of your post. Where did you find it?
