Bear’s Dream #enemiestolovers #shapeshifterromance #romanceseries #romancenovels

A snowstorm on New Year’s Eve brought bear shifters Ellie and AJ together but a secret threatens to tear them apart in paranormal romance Bear’s Dream by Christina Lynn Lambert.

Ellie had every reason to hate AJ.

Some couples instantly know they were meant for each other and happiness follows. Things are nowhere near that simple or easy for bear shifters Ellie Ortiz and AJ Shepherd in Bear’s Dream. Ellie is too fueled by anger and grief to see AJ as anything but the object of her wrath during their first encounter. A few years later, after time has given her a little distance and perspective, she meets AJ again by chance in a crowded bar.

Her attraction to the dark-haired, bear shifter with the gorgeous green eyes is instant and intense… until she recognizes him. And then, to her dismay, AJ actually seems be a decent guy. She wants to continue hating him, but after they get snowed in together at the Willow Hill hotel, she ends up enjoying the time she spends with him. Ellie’s growing attraction to AJ gives her all kinds of issues, since AJ was responsible for her brother’s death. Even if the killing was a mistake during a Shifter Army mission gone horribly wrong, Ellie can’t stand the thought of falling for the man who killed her brother. Luckily, the snow begins to melt, making the roads safe to drive. She can leave AJ behind, and forget about all the complicated feelings he caused her.

AJ’s first time meeting Ellie was a nightmare. She was furious with him, and he was full of regret and sorrow. When he sat down next to her at Smoky’s Bar and Grille on New Year’s Eve four years later, he fell hard. He knew she belonged with him. His bear knew. The problem? Ellie would probably never want to be with him and he couldn’t blame her. His mistake cost her twin brother his life. He could never make that up to her. He was determined to let Ellie go but the universe had other ideas.

After Ellie’s vindictive boss destroys her career in real estate, Ellie takes AJ up on an offer to be the Events Manager at the Haven Forest Resort, a retreat designed for shifters. Seeing AJ every single day makes it nearly impossible to deny her feelings for him. She begins to wonder why she should even bother trying but love doesn’t come easy for most people, and sometimes, the fight for a happily ever after takes every ounce of courage, strength and compassion. Not to mention a bit of luck and sometimes, help from a few strangers.

During a disastrous assignment with Shifters United, AJ uncovers some information that changes everything. Keeping the secret from Ellie is killing him but he might lose her forever if he tells her the truth.

When Ellie ends up at the heart of a reporter’s plot to prove the existence of shifters, she and AJ must fight their way to freedom. The survival of shifters everywhere depends on it.

Excerpt:

AJ held on to the door, shocked, nearly certain Ellie could be his mate, and there was nothing he could do about it because when she left Willow Hill, she’d be lost to him, forever.

“Bye, Ellie. Take care.”

“You too.” Her sad brown eyes shone with a hint of tears but held no promise of a possible future for them.

“If you ever need me”—he cleared his throat— “I mean, if you ever need anything, you have my number.”

She nodded and closed her car door. He wanted to exist in some alternate reality where the reason for Ellie’s sadness was because they were both going their separate ways, and the only way to fix the tears threatening to spill from her eyes would be to sit down in the car next to her. They could spend the whole ride back to her house talking like they had before about music and career plans and favorite foods. When they reached her house, he would take her into her bedroom and spend hours discovering what made her hot and what made her scream for more.

But in this reality, Ellie didn’t want him. She’d made a mistake in the heat of the moment, kissing him. He knew she regretted the kiss, even if she was kind enough not to say it out loud. He watched her leave the parking deck and drive out of sight. Forgetting her was going to be hell.
