It would be easier to say which characters in Mejis I would like to meet because, as Roland recounts the story of his star-crossed romance with Susan, pretty much everyone in Mejis is awful.
Mayor Hart Thorin is a creepy old goat to whom Susan has been promised by her ambitious, jealous aunt Cordelia.
Mayor Thorin's sister, Coral, has no real loyalty to him. She's hardly heartbroken when her lover, the lead Big Coffin Hunter Eldred Jonas, orders the murder of the unfortunate Hart and his toady, Chancellor Kimba Rimer.
Perhaps someone should go to the sheriff.
Fat chance you'll find any help there. The sheriff is corrupt. Don't even get me started on Rhea of the Coos, a wicked witch to put all other wicked witches to shame.
Rhea has a weakness. She is addicted to watching other people through the pink crystal (Maerlyn's Grapefruit) that Eldred Jonas gave her for safekeeping. Every time she uses the crystal, it saps her energy.
In truth, there are very few nice places in the Dark Tower series, and by very few, I mean none. It isn't a nice place to visit, and I wouldn't want to live there. Nonetheless, I recommend the series for anyone who loves dark fantasy and Westerns with a big scoop of Weird mixed in for good measure.
I will earn a small commission for any purchases made through this link.
I recommend reading or listening to the preceding books in the series before starting this one.

That's some plot. I like your 'perfectly imperfect' slogan. Aren't we all? :)
