Where is Fall? by Harlie Williams

What's up with the weather?  I live in East Texas so I'm used to not feeling the Autumn Chill until maybe, the end of the month.  But when it's 83 degrees on November 6th, it is just stupid.

High School football season is almost over except for the playoffs.  Homecoming dances have come and gone and we are finally over our sugar coma from Halloween.  Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks and we are already dealing with all the commercials/music/movies about Christmas.  Which to me is just too much.

I realize that I'm not like the others.  I don't countdown to the Hallmark Channels annual Christmas movies.  In fact, I don't watch the channel.  I guess that makes me a non-romantic but I digress.  My point is I want FALL.  I want to wear a jacket, heck even a sweater.  I'm tired of shorts and flip-flops.  My air conditioner is still running.  I still have tan lines.  Not to mention that my allergies are beyond anything that I've experienced in a long time.

See the list above?  That's what I want.  I don't want the hot anymore.  Most people would tell me to move but I like Texas.  And Fall is my favorite season.  I still haven't had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.  I refuse until it gets cooler.

But this did happen on the 1st of November:

Yep, Astros fan here.  My husband cried tears of joy and danced a jig in the street.  But now...I want football and hockey season weather.  I can't wear my hockey jersey with shorts.  It's just wrong.

Until next time, Happy Thanksgiving!

What's up with the weather? Global warming. It's been getting hotter for years in Southern California.

Yep but this is nuts in Texas. I didn't even mention that it rained on Halloween so the kids couldn't even go trick or treating this year. Bummer!

That's too bad.

The weird rain patterns are also global warming. This year was the worst ever for hurricanes.

Harlie, if you want to satisfy your autumn fix, come to Ohio. The leaves of brown came tumbling down, as the song goes. But you're right about the crazy weather. Sunday we were in the 70's and had a storm that produced tornadoes; today it's in the 50's.

Damn greenhouse effect!

Sorry to disagree but I love the California weather. Loved fall once too, but will glady give that up to escape the upper New York winters.

I dropped a curtain bracket on my toe (don't ask!) and broke the little toe on my right foot. So I've been wearing sandals and flip-flops since then. It's been fine until recently, since the weather was unusually warm right through the end of October...like in the 70's! Never got much chance to wear light jackets. Now I'm wearing sandals with my parka on. Shoes are almost bearable, finally, but I LOVE flip-flops and sandals. Maybe I'll wear them until it snows!

We are all suffering from a "Chinese hoax", remember? There is no such thing as climate change. And the taxes will be lowered for the middle class. And we will have great insurance very soon. Etc, etc.

Meanwhile, my husband, the engineer, is still looking for a job, and I'm still working 2 part-time jobs, 13-hour days, to pay the bills. But everything is going great, right? For SOME of us. Meanwhile, many of us are looking around asking, "Where are we going, and why are we in this hand-basket?"
