Happy Who Holidays

It's that time of year again... Time for the Doctor Who Christmas special filled with laughs and sighs and more than likely tears because Moffatt is an evil bastard. But hey, he's giving us River Song back so I forgive him.

Have a great holiday and a wonderful New Year.

Some of my sons have given up even watching the show anymore, because we all HATE the direction that Moffat is taking the show in. And these are grown men who drove in from out-of-state to go with us as a family to see the 50th anniversary movie, wearing fedoras, a Tom Baker scarf, and a fez. After husband and I watch each new episode, we have to have an immediate "chaser" of a Tom Baker or Matt Smith episode, to remind us of when the show won our hearts and minds with the clever stories and endearing actors playing the doctor.

Come on, really, eye-booger monsters? The moon is giant egg only a few thousand years old?(that was the one that made my geologist son stop watching.) Punching a hole in a diamond wall in a story that had so many holes it was like swiss cheese? We were originally in favor of Capaldi playing the doctor since we all have fond memories of John Pertwee and Patrick Troughton, so we have nothing against the doctor being older. But he needs better stories!

That being said, of course we'll watch the new special. But River Song is gone, having been left in the library by Matt Smith to save her life. So she can't come back...now or ever! I guess Moffat is taking lessons from a famous director and "J. J. Abrams-ing" the canon of Doctor Who lore, figuring that the fans will swallow any crap he comes up with. Sigh...we had such high hopes.
