Happy New Year! by Harlie Williams

So, 7 days in and I feel like its been a month.  Spent time with the in-laws and ended up having to put my father in law in the hospital.  Bleeding ulcers and very low blood pressure.  He's 81 and still thinks he's Superman.  It was hardest on my husband.  Finding your dad passed out in the shower is never good but having to get him out of the shower before the ambulance came, is another.  Our son helped, too.  Oh, and our dog came to make sure that Paw Paw was okay and gave him kisses.

So what did I do?  Helped my mother in law.  Took down all of her Christmas stuff and boxed it up and put it away.  Did the laundry.  Cleaned the house, threw out the leftovers and kept our stuff cleaned up, too.  I never feel like I really contribute but I do.  We ended up having to stay a couple of extra days but it's okay.

He is home now and doing better but he still thinks he's Superman.

In other news, I've decided to start journaling.  I need an outlet for my thoughts and feelings.  I honestly try to stay out of the fray when it comes to Facebook and the hatred has already started again.  I don't talk about politics, religion, money or sex on FB since I don't think its anyone's business but my own.  I realize that I'm in the minority but I need an outlet for what I WOULD put on Facebook at the end of the day.

Plus, I actually bought a journal.  And pens.  I think actually writing it out is better for me than typing.  I miss actually writing stuff down.  Its a lost art in my opinion.  I have great penmanship but my sons is awful and hubs is not far behind.  They just don't teach it anymore.

Overall, we had a great Christmas.  The boy got an Xbox 1S and he was beyond excited.
Pure joy and excitement
That look.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season.  We are already counting down to Spring Break.  :)

Lucky that you were at the in-laws' house when he fainted! MIL had help while she worried and cared for him. But you're probably glad to be home and back in the routine. No subbing today, since it's the first day of second semester at the high schools.

Me? I stayed off-line for most of the 2-week holiday. Too many family commitments and visits to have any time. Did a lot of work on son's new afghan. Baked and gave away a lot of cookies. Went to a wedding. Had 20 relatives at my house, baking and eating pizza, in a pizza-bake-off on Christmas Eve. Phew! It's good to be back in the work-day routine. Now it's time to try to carve off those holiday pounds that magically appeared, totally on their own!

Sorry for the delay. Blogger hasn't been kind to me the last couple of days.

@Tina, they all think they are Superman. He is much better and actually listening to other people for once.

@Finona, I work tomorrow, 1/9/19 for the rest of the week and next week, too. I don't know if I told you but this is my last year of subbing. After six years, applying within the district and nothing, I'm done. Administration can't even figure out the why but they understand.
