Happy almost Halloween, costumes AND #NewRelease day !! #MoonlightMist #RomanceCollections #giveaway

Super late posting today, sorry about that !!!!!

Howdy all!  Happy almost Halloween and super excited.
Depending on where you are in the world, did your kids get to trick-or-treat yet?
In our town, the trick-or-treating commences on Halloween night, however, my kids are starting to grow out of the door - to - door candy collecting. I have to say i'm almost a little sad to see that particular phase go away. I used to get so into making costumes for them when they were younger. My son has even challenged me a few different times in his early teens, for dances or band. I won't miss the walking part of the door - to - door because in Michigan, it's usually cold and rainy.  It would be a perfect time to man the front door at home and hand out candy to the ghost and goblins but we've been gone during that time for so many years, i have no idea if we even have kids that walk in our neighborhood.  I do have to say i am excited that I have had the opportunity to make my son's costume this year for their band contest. His section(clarinets) are all dressing up as the Robin Williams character from his movies. My son chose Peter Pan and let me tell you, that's an interesting costume to make from scratch !

Check out my post on Romance Books 4 Us on November 2nd to see a picture of it!

I also love this time of year because the hubby and I are big horror movie watchers and there's no better time...Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and all the other apps on our TV are loaded with all the good ones. I waited not-so-patiently for a couple months for the new HALLOWEEN with Jamie Lee Curtis to release and i was not disappointed !!

I'd love to hear what you all do to celebrate All Hallows eve???

I'll even do a #giveaway of a small halloween prize pack to one lucky
person so comment below!!

Somewhere underneath a moonlit night lies an underworld that some may not believe exists.
The creatures of this alternate plane lurk beyond the mist.
Craving for what they need.
Some may find it. Some might even curb that hunger. But a few will not.
Without knowing what it is they need to satisfy a primal need, they seek out something more. Something that will test their limits in search of something greater. Something powerful... Something everlasting.

Come play with me!

I have a reader group called Rose’s Garden of Delights. As an extra feature for my Kitchen Confessions series, I created #TastyTuesday, where I post wonderful recipes I have developed to complement the books. I also do cover reveals and only-for-you excerpts for my forthcoming releases, as well as keeping up with my author friends.

Here’s a look at one of the recipes in the group.

Apple Souffle with Ginger Coconut Cream
Don’t let the pomp of restaurant souffles fool you. They are much easier than you think for the great wow factor. Restaurants like them because they can prepare the flavor base ahead of time, even the day before. And so can you. Then just whip up the egg whites, combine with base, bake and they’re done! Just serve as soon as they come out of the oven.

Butter-flavored canola oil spray
2 tsp Splenda or granulated Xylitol
2 Granny Smith apples
2 tsp butter
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
½ cup no sugar added apple juice
4 egg whites at room temperature
Pinch cream of tartar
½ cup light coconut milk
1 tsp minced crystallized ginger
1 tsp no-calorie sweetener

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray insides and rims of four 8-oz ramekins with spray and sprinkle with granulated sweetener.
Peel and grate apples on a box grater. Into a saucepan, add apples, butter, spices and juice and cook over medium heat until it thickens and you have a nice applesauce. Remove from saucepan and cool to room temperature.

Beat egg whites until frothy. Add cream of tartar and beat just to stiff peaks. Mix ¼ of the whites into the apple mixture. Then gently fold the rest of the whites into the mixture until just combined. Spoon into ramekins. Place ramekins in a small roasting pan and fill with boiling water 1 inch up the sides of the ramekins. Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes until brown. Meanwhile warm the coconut milk in a saucepan with the ginger and sweetener.

When finished, place ramekin on a plate, insert a knife down the center of the souffle and pour in 1TBS of the coconut milk mixture. Serve immediately.

Come visit me on my website www.roseccarole.com. There you can find excerpts of my books and my schedule of signings. As I said above Rose's Garden of Delights is my Facebook group where I post snippets of upcoming work and recipes for #TastyTuesday. Historical Treat beginning in THE VISCOUNT's ONLY LOVE: Travels with Cerise and Bon Bons!

Inside THE VISCOUNT'S ONLY LOVE is a treat for the historical romance lover in you.
I've decided that another wonderful way to share my research with you is to include in my novels addenda about my trips abroad! Yes, I've done a few Live Chats on FB called Travels with Cerise (and do go watch them please), but I wanted to give you something more permanent to relish.
You know that in each novel, I take great care to give you accurate history from all my research in books, monographs and travel abroad. Many times those little details that I like to put into my novels can naturally go unnoticed or undocumented.
Now to thrill you more, I've taken advantage of the new technological ability to include my photos inside my works. So you see my great pictures like this one of Azay-le-Rideau and you can read what and why I've included those pictures in my text!
I'm very excited about this. That means that I will first go back into all 3 of THOSE NOTORIOUS AMERICANS, then CHRISTMAS BELLES to show you my pix and explain how those items or places are reflected in my novels. When I put those in, I will notify you here and you can go to your provider into your account and download the newest version! So tickled to share these with you!
In box set, NINE LORDS
Do write to me and let you me know what you think and what you've loved!

Cassie's Temptation (Time Bridge Book 1)

by Annie Becker

What would you risk to travel back in time?
Ex-reporter Cassie Martin overhears a heated argument between two men. One, Aaron Reegan, is a passionate ex-delta force hero who calls to her in ways she can barely understand. The other man is desperately trying to find a missing friend.
When the words “manipulating time” are uttered, she has to know more, even if it means betraying every ethic she’s ever had to uncover the secret.
After a chance meeting, the stakes rise.  Both her passion for Aaron and the knowledge that time travel is real grow unchecked.  But she can’t have both.
What would you risk to travel back in time?  Would you risk everything?
"Outlander" meets "Fifty Shades of Gray," Cassie’s Temptation is the first book in the Time Bridge series. If you love super hot, dark romance, time travel adventure, a smart-as-a-whip heroine, and a sexy, eager alpha hero, don't miss Cassie

What would a man like that do if he caught her tampering with his car, spying on him, all of it? Cassie rolled over in bed restlessly, rolled over and pressed her thighs together tightly. During the day, it was easy enough not to think about, but at night, when she was alone… “it” sometimes got very difficult to ignore. “It” being her, for lack of a better word, fantasies.

Her fantasies.

Fantasies about tall strong men who took charge. The phrases“ old-fashioned” and “no-nonsense” often came to mind. The word “spanking” came to mind. Without wanting to, she thought about the large hand that had snagged her upper arm effortlessly and wondered what it would feel like to have that hand come down on a squirming bare bottom. She wondered what it would feel like to
have him on top of her. ~ ONE CLICK   https://amzn.to/2ykfxTe

So,” he favored her with a lopsided grin, “what should we talk about?”
Cassie blushed again. On the bad idea scale of one through ten, coming out for ice cream with him was a fourteen. “I don’t know.” She looked away, trying to keep her mouth from twitching into a smile. As she looked to the side, Cassie saw a woman across the room still staring at Aaron. When she caught Cassie’s glance, she quickly turned away. “The weather?”
“Weather’s boring.” He fiddled with the napkin dispenser for a second. “How about your driving? That would be a start.”
“I don’t want to talk about my driving.” And she didn’t. Because talking about her driving led to questions about why she was on the street, and she really didn’t want to go there.
“I think we should talk about it.” That tone again. Mostly light, a little flirty, but still with a core of iron underneath that could not be ignored.
Cassie swallowed hard. And then, a demon took over her brain. It wasn’t her. It couldn’t be her, because the words that came out of her mouth were: “So what are you going to do about it? Spank me?” As soon as she said it, appalled and horrified, she blushed scarlet. She’d actually said the “S” word. To him. To the man she’d been fantasizing about for a month. For just a millisecond, his big hands stopped their restless exploration of a napkin, his eyes widened imperceptibly, and she could see she’d startled him.
Then his mouth twitched and she realized that he was fighting a grin. He met her gaze straight on. “Well, I could,” he drawled. “That would definitely be a start.” He paused for just a second, and his voice lowered. “You look like a girl who could use a good spanking.”

“I… I…” She shook her head, desperately wanting to go in, knowing she could not. The lies between them were just too huge. “I’d love to, but I’m filthy,” she gestured to the jeans she hadn’t changed after the milking, bits of straw still clinging, “and sweaty and exhausted.”
Aaron moved closer, just by an inch or two but it was enough. So massive, so overpowering, so… everything she wanted. “Cassie, I have a shower. And a bathtub.”
Cassie fought the urge to step back. Involuntarily, her teeth caught her lower lip.
“And a bed.”
She looked up at him, nakedly vulnerable, almost having an orgasm where she stood. “That’s what I’m afraid of,” she whispered.
Excerpt:  When she came out, he was still there, sitting on the wide edge of the tiled bath. “Come here, Cassie,” he ordered softly.
And then reality dawned.
Aaron didn’t intend for her to take a bath. He intended to give her a bath. Big difference. With her naked and him… not…  sitting right there. As if on a pull cord, she walked towards him, the sound of the water rushing into the tub surrounding them. “Are you staying?”
He laughed. “I’m not leaving.”

Cassie supported herself back on the bed. He was so big and suddenly she was feeling as if – maybe just maybe, just this once – she’d bitten off a bit more than she could chew. “Do I have a safeword?” The girls in all the books had a safeword.
She couldn’t see his face, but she felt him chuckle, just a little bit, almost more of a snort. And then she could see his face, because his strong fingers tipped her chin up to look at him. “You do have a safeword.”
“What is it?” she asked eagerly. Oh, how she had always wanted a safeword! Orange. Red. Onions. Noodles. Justin Bieber – because that one was guaranteed to stop anything, good or bad. Even just safeword. The girls in the stories had lots of choices.
His eyes didn’t stop boring into hers. “Yes. Your safeword is yes.” His eyes narrowed. “And if you put a ‘sir’ on the end of it,” he advised grimly, “it’s even safer.”

   Author Bio
Annie Becker is an American author of adventure romance, stories with smart feisty heroines (who don’t always make the best choices), smoking hot alpha heroes, and plots that are edgy and raw… just a bit outside of the mainstream.   Time travel, mysterious artifacts, underwater archeology, alien abduction, EMP survival…  you’ll find all of these in an Annie Becker adventure romance!
Annie, with a co-author, won Romantic Times’ Awards “Best New Historical Romance” and “Best Romantic Adventure”  in the 1980s.  The duo penned several books that are widely regarded as some of the best “bodice rippers” of all time.  After leaving romance writing for many years, she’s back – with a vengeance – and ready to take readers on wild adventures to places that are all too real.
Annie splits her time between her home in Colorado, her son’s home in Virginia and her daughter’s home in London.  She loves cats, dogs, her children, her grandchildren, and her husband.
Annie’s upcoming release schedule is:
October 16, 2018:  Cassie’s Temptation:  Time Bridge Book One
January 7, 2019:  Death’s Maiden: Time Bridge Book Two
April 1, 2019: Out of Nowhere
Cassie's Temptation (Time Bridge Book 1) by Annie Becker

What an amazing start to a new series by a new author for me, and one that I look forward to reading again.  The story is an action-pack adventure that is full of twists and turns, mystery and suspense, cat and mouse games, along with romance and passion.  Annie Becker describes herself and her writing as an American author of adventure romance, stories with smart, feisty heroines (who don’t always make the best choices,) smoking hot alpha heroes, and plots that are edgy and raw—just a bit outside of the mainstream.  After reading the first book in the Time Bridge series, that is a pretty accurate assessment.  The stories are ones that will need to be read in written order because it will be an ongoing saga, with the next book, Death’s Maiden, due out early January 2019.

Cassie Martin is back in Wisconsin, living in a small cottage on her brother’s farm, working as a waitress on the weekends at La Grotta and writing historical romance novels during the week.  She is even a published author, with her second book to release soon, and in the works on her third one.

Aaron Reegan works at Goose Island as head of security with a top-secret project that takes place at the facility.  He is former military, Delta Force, who was injured in Afghanistan and still useful to his government in a different capacity.

Syd Meyers worked with Cassie at the Chicago Tribune.  He is chief of technology, and while not someone Cassie really cares for and considers creepy, he is the only person she can share some shocking information she learns about manipulating time and time travel.

The plot will have Cassie overhearing Aaron and another man arguing at the restaurant and even recording part of their conversation on time manipulation.  She will involve Syd Meyers from the Tribune, and it will open a can of worms and set this story into motion.  While she finds Aaron sexy, she also fears him at first.  What happens when in all the trips back and forth to his neighborhood, she nearly runs him over, and it leads to more than him only being a customer at work?  A conversation over ice cream leads to sexual innuendos, threats of spankings, and the beginning of a D/s relationship.

“Am I going to have fun with you.”

As Syd and Cassie learn more about the project and time travel at Goose Island, they must decide how to continue.  Syd knows how to manipulate Cassie, and she becomes a pawn in his game.  Spying on Aaron, Syd has gained insight to not only Aaron and Cassie but into Goose Island.  Has Cassie made a deal with the devil when she consulted with Syd?

“Everything that ever happened is still happening.  Once you’re down in the whole, you don’t dig your way out.  As soon as this gets out, I don’t care how good your reporting is.  It’ll be Area 51 all over again.  Covered up by the government—Doesn’t work—Too dangerous—Never happened.”

The story is full of secrets, spying, mystery, suspense, adventure, theories, and then the BDSM relationship between Cassie and Aaron.  She has always had a desire for a D/s relationship with spanking, and he fulfills that desire.  The story has explicit sex scenes with discipline.  I can’t wait to see where the next story takes us.  Not everyone is on the up and up and surprises take place.  The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people, and now lives are on the line.  Has Cassie destroyed her relationship with Aaron, betraying him?  Has she trusted the wrong man by turning to Syd for help?

“For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war.”

A Halloween Short, A 'Pretty Woman' Mystery, and "Wings of the Wicked"

Happy Halloween! Today, I've got 3 goodies for you. First, meet Chantal. She's been running from her past for quite a while, but there's no time quite like Samhain to face your destiny...

Last Call: a Halloween Short

“Book me a flight to New Orleans, Mary – any available class. I’ll take the ferry from there. I’m off to the airport, so call me there with confirmation and details. I’ll be away for a few days, um…family emergency.”

Chantal grabbed her navy Kors bag from the desk security drawer and rushed from her law office. The family attorney’s call announcing the death of her mother and sister shook the illusion that she could outrun her destiny.
She stared ahead, shifting from foot to foot, the fifteen-floor elevator ride down like awaiting surgery results in the emergency room. She quickly mapped out a plan. Call Tommy, take off stockings and heels, call…who else should I call? No one will understand except Tommy, gather herbs, make a new gris gris… and remember the clearing spell.

Starting her BMW,  she spoke into her IPhone, surprised to get Tommy’s voicemail, then floored the accelerator, deciding at the last minute to run by her apartment in case he was there.

Seven minutes later, she stepped into her apartment and flew upstairs, a soft moan her only warning before she reached her bedroom.

Chantal sighed, slowed her breathing, and grasped her gris gris, the charcoal doll marked with a red “X” worn at her neck since childhood. Shock covered Tommy’s face, his whore’s mouth agape in terror, hair tousled as she attempted to cover her breasts with Chantal’s gold-satin sheet…One, one-thousand, two… the last images Chantal saw before her personal Bayou tsunami rose were those gold sheets flying across the room, guardian spirits demolishing everything in her path on command.

Chantal stepped away from the carnage she’d wrought, expressionless, vaguely aware that she felt no remorse. Eventually, someone would find the bloody, broken bodies of her cheating husband and the unfortunate creature whose primary sin was choosing the wrong woman’s husband. No one knew she’d been there to exact justice, and Mary would confirm that she’d gone straight to the airport. She sighed, smiling as she returned to her car and headed to the airport.

Four and a half hours later, Chantal stood in front of the two-story dilapidated Creole. The white wooden house, now a dull gray, had been in her family for centuries, and now she alone remained. Ten year old images resurfaced, heavy fog illuminating ominous figures in the dark as she ran, desperate to reach the ferry before the heart-churning bellow of the foghorn stopped.

Despite Chantal’s efforts to escape, her mother, Madame Beauvais to residents of the small southern Bayou town named for her family, never let go.

Chantal stood outside, staring at the place she'd dubbed 'house of horrors' as a teen.

After...well, she had no idea how long she stood there, simply watching as memories seeped from secret places in the dark recesses of her mind, she crept up the steps, rundown boards crying out, threatening to give-way rather than support her slight weight, then stepped inside the house, memories razing her brain now, assaulting her at once as the light sounds of squeaking, scurrying rats offered an oddly welcome anchor to the present.

She stood in the open doorway, closed her eyes, and covered her ears…waiting…waiting…until the familiar barrage of voices emerged, remnants of her mother’s…customers, she'd always called them, and the beings they summoned.

Something hairy brushed her bare leg as it ran across her feet, prompting Chantal to open her eyes. She stomped her foot to scatter the rats, the curious creatures apparently emboldened by the last vestiges of darkness, then something chilling enveloped her, momentarily stealing her breath.

“Ten years well spent, ma fille.” Leaning against the staircase, assuming her favorite position, Madame Beauvais greeted her long lost daughter with the hint of a smile. Her mirthless eyes spoke volumes.

“Merci, Maman. I...am… ready now.” Deep down, she had always known there was no escape.

Chantal exhaled and settled into Madame Beauvais’ rocking chair on the winding front porch as dawn greeted her. Chirping crickets, croaking frogs, fluttering ravens, and the raw scent of Earth, cypress, and swamp - the Bayou - welcomed her home.
