June 18, 2015 marks the 200th anniversary of the battle that ended the Napoleonic era in Europe. For lovers of Regency romance, this is a significant date because the shadow of the 23-year battle with the French emperor is in the backdrop of every story set during that period.
Battles were fought, while life in England went on. Matchmaking mamas paraded their young daughters at Almack's and other ton events. The Prince Regent went through mistresses and money as though there were no tomorrow, Brummell set the fashion for gentleman dandies, Lady Caroline Lamb caused scandal after scandal in her pursuit of Lord Byron, and all the while, eager young men were racing off to the Continent in search of glory and honor, often coming back—if they did come back—injured and much more sober about the realities of war than when they left.
A bicentenary only comes once, and it occurred to several of us that it would be appropriate to write stories set with a backdrop of that great battle, that the Duke of Wellington said was "a close-run thing." That's how Beaux, Ballrooms, and Battles came about, and we are proud to announce that the set of nine stories will be released on April 1, 2015.
Jillian Chantal: Jeremiah's Last Charge
Téa Cooper: The Caper Merchant
Susana Ellis: Lost and Found Lady
Aileen Fish: Captain Lumley's Angel
Victoria Hinshaw: Folie Bleue
Heather King: Copenhagen's Last Charge
Christa Page: One Last Kiss
Sophia Strathmore: A Soldier Lay Dying
David W. Wilkin: Not a Close Run Thing At All
