I love alpha males,
and I love to write about them. The ultimate hero in romance fiction is the
alpha male... powerful, mysterious and totally attractive to the heroine.
So what is an alpha
male?
The alpha male is the "man
with the plan," and women are wired to go for this type of guy. Look
through the pages of my books and you will find cowboy, current and former
military, lots of law enforcement, even some corporate icons. But they all have
the same thing in common–they are alpha males. He is sexy, confident, great in and out of bed
The term "alpha male"
is sometimes applied to humans to refer to a man who is powerful through his
courage and a competitive, goal-driven, "take charge" attitude. Alpha males take greater risks. With their
bold approach and confidence "alpha males" are often described as
charismatic.
They are aggressive, results-driven achievers who insist on top
performance from themselves and others. Courageous and self-confident, they
are turned on by bold, innovative ideas and ambitious goals, and they pursue
their objectives with tenacity and an urgent sense of mission. Their intense
competitive drive keeps them focused on the gold - silver or bronze simply
won't do - and they're always keeping score. Often charismatic figures who
command attention, they exert influence even when they're low-key and
inconspicuous.
Whether heading a band of warriors, bringing a vital new product
to market, guiding a team to glory or steering a giant conglomerate, alphas are
hardwired for achievement and eager to tackle challenges that others find
intimidating. Along the way, they inspire awe and admiration - and sometimes
fear and trembling. Wherever they are and whatever they do, they stand out from
the crowd, usually leaving an indelible impression on those whose lives they
touch.

Sure do love alpha males. Meeting Cole Landry in Out of Control was a delicious delight. I think my favorite of all your alpha males that I have met to date id Mark Halloran in Jungle Inferno. He's a dream come true.

Everybody loves them, of course. Alphas are what keep the pages turning.
Alphas are awesome. The best part about alphas in a romance? The way they are softened by and for the heroine.
I totally agree with all of you. And all of my alpha males, no matter how hard or edgy, always have the slight flaw that makes them so appealing. And Cindy? you just made my day!
Waves hand in air...I don't like alpha males! I prefer beta males, who talk about their feelings and aren't afraid to be vulnerable with their women.
In real life every alpha male I ever met was a boorish, pompous a-hole who never gave a moment's thought to anyone else's feelings, since only his were important. So give me a strong yet sensitive beta male anytime.
