Fast Bikes And Hot Cars by Adele Dubois

It’s spring, and for me that means the long wait is over to drive with my convertible top down after a dreary winter. The characters in my work in progress will likely hit the blacktop and have some fun too.

I like to write about fast motorcycles and hot cars. Most of my books include a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by a sexy, handsome hero. My REV ME UP and REV ME TWICE heroes personify the ideal of hunks on a motorcycle and readers tell me they love them.

My heroines tend to drive convertibles, like I do in real life. For me, there’s nothing more exhilarating than driving fast with the ragtop down. My DESERT FEVER and DESERT WILD heroines share my love of the open road. Though my car is a Sebring and theirs a Retro Thunderbird, we all savor the feel of the wind in our hair, the sun shining on our faces and the thrilling sensation of speed.

My Sebring hasn’t been new for years, and when my convertible needs replacing, I’ll buy another. My car is a guilty pleasure I share with my fast-driving story characters.  For as long as there’s a stretch of country road and I’m alive on this earth, I’ll be driving with the ragtop down.

What’s your favorite mode of transportation, either real or fantasy?
REV ME TWICE by Adele Dubois

Crystal is a bad, bad girl in the most delicious ways. She tries to be good and is tempted to commit to her Navy MP boyfriend, Tomas, but has no experience with an exclusive relationship or healthy family structure. She likes her life as a cable TV stripping weather girl and sex party host, and resists conforming to the traditional lifestyle Tomas craves. Without her weekly ménages and wild orgies, can she become the partner Tomas wants?

When Crystal receives death threats, a media frenzy erupts. During a break-in, the threatening letters are stolen, erasing evidence that thwarts an arrest. Tomas sports Crystal away on his Harley to protect her, but a deadly crash changes everything. Faced with the choice between self-interest and self-sacrifice, Crystal must decide if she will embrace a new life with Tomas or walk away.

My dream car is a '66 GTO convertible. Maybe one of these days. Rev Me Twice sounds great!

Adele, I like convertibles, too, but I don't own one. My dream car is a Jaguar.

Great blog, Adele. If I were into convertibles, I would drive a classic '65 Mustang in the limited editon bubblegum pink. Love the wild ride and bad boy looks of your cover. I can't help but think of the line in Top Gun, "I have the need for speed." LOL

The kind of car/truck doesn't matter to me as much as it has to be responsive and fast, and I'M doing the driving! I'm such an irritable passenger that my husband learned long ago it's not worth trying to fight to get the steering wheel out of my hands! Fortunately he likes to sight-see and sleep in the passenger seat...of course, he says he needs to grab himself every now and then to be sure they're still there!(g) Even on a Harley, I want to be the driver. I guess that's why I write alpha females...I don't know any other way to be.
Very sexy cover...maybe I'd let him drive...for a while...

Hi Gals!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my post. My love of convertibles began as a little girl, when my favorite uncle bought a canary yellow ragtop and sometimes let me ride with him around town. He was nineteen and the coolest guy ever. Hmmm, I think I feel a new blog post coming on...

I share your admiration for Harleys, Mustangs, GTOs, Jaguars and wanting to be in control behind the wheel.

Hi Adele,
I am in such envy here. I have wanted a Sebring forever, but my husband says no. LOL I think he is afraid of what I will do if I have a convertible--walk on the wild side a little. LOL He has been wanting a motorcycle now for years, but...well, I have a 21 year old son, and if Dad get the bike, I know he'll want one too, or want to borrow it. I would be a nervous wreck. Love your covers, and I love bad boys, so I think I will be getting these books soon. Thanks for a very interesting post. I guess if I had to pick a dream car it would be one of the new Camaros--I love the black ones.

Adelle! It's so nice to put a face to a name! Great to meet you. And your book Rev Me Twice sounds wonderful.

I don't know much about hogs, but I know a bunch about corvettes and I just got a 1975 Vette Stingray from my husband as a birthday present! Woo hoo. Can't wait for the weather to break so I can take her out drivin with the t-tops off!

Wishing you all the best!

Cheryl--I love the black Camaro! Good choice. Try to sweet talk hubby into that Sebring. If that doesn't work, strongarm him. Blackmail works well, too. Lol.

Renee--Thanks for the welcome. Why don't you stop by my house and take me for a ride in your Vette? Who knows what kind of trouble we could get into? ") I love Corvettes. My BFF's husband bought the silver 25th Anniversary limited edition Corvette, drove it a few years, and sold it. He should NEVER have parted with that car! It was the most beautiful Corvette I've ever seen.

Happy Spring = Driving with the top down!
